Welcoming Katelyn Roth
Introducing our new dancers! Congratulations to each artist joining the Ballet 5:8 professional company for the 2020/21 Season. One of our traditions is asking a few questions to get to know them.
Katelyn Roth, Apprentice
Q. Where will you be coming to Ballet 5:8 from?
A. Originally from Northeast Georgia. I have been with Ballet 5:8 for two years and graduated from the trainee program.
Q. What attracted you to Ballet 5:8?
A. The community and mission of Ballet 5:8.
Q. Why do you dance?
A. Dance is my constant and grounds me. Regardless of my current situation, whether good or bad, I can go into the studio every day, block out the world for a little while, and work on what inspires me. In ballet, there is always something to improve upon. The hard work you put in is directly reflected in the outcome and that is a satisfying knowledge to have when putting in the blood, sweat, and tears over time.
Q. What is something you enjoy about Chicago or think you'll enjoy about Chicago?
A. I enjoy the community I have been fortunate to be supported by over the last two years. I also enjoy getting to explore new places and restaurants in downtown Chicago.
Q. What is one thing people will be surprised to learn about you?
A. I am one of eight siblings and have an A.A. in business administration.
Q. What are you most looking forward to about the coming performance season?
A. I am looking forward to the new choreography in the coming season. I am also looking forward to getting back into the studio where we can all spur one another on in rehearsals.
