Ballet 5:8 is a professional company dedicated to innovative storytelling and breathtaking dance.

By auditioning for Ballet 5:8’s Conservatory Program, Trainee Program, Second Company, Professional Company or one of our Summer Programs. you will take the next step in joining a team of passionate individuals dedicated to pursuing excellence in the art form of ballet, inspiring meaningful conversation of life and faith, and making a difference in our world.

Audition Instructions & Timeline

  • Option #1: Audition Tour 2025. Ballet 5:8 will host auditions in Los Angeles, New York City, Nashville, Detroit, Birmingham, and Chicago.

    Option #2: Video Audition.

  • Choose from the menu below and register for your prefered location. If you select a video audition the video instructions are listed on the last drop down menu.

  • All dancers must submit a first arabesque photo and headshot. Trainee and Second Company applicants must also submit a resume, letter of recommendation, and cover letter.

  • After you submit your in-person registration or video audition our team will confirm the time, date, and details via email. Put it in your calendar and we’ll see you at the barre!

  • Audition results will be sent out 5-10 days after your audition. Summer programs require only one audition. All 25/26 Year-Round programs require a second-round audition in-person at Ballet 5:8. Please connect with the Program Director to schedule your second-round audition.

  • All videos should be filmed in a well-lit studio, with plenty of space to dance. Please ensure that the entire combination is in the frame and that the total video is no longer than 5mn

    At the Barre | One side only

    Plié, tendu, jete, rond de jambe and grand battement

    In the Center | One side only, en pointe if 16+

    Adagio, including Grand plié, developés to each direction, penchée, promenade

    Waltz, including Grand pirouette in any position, pirouettes en dehors and en dedans, pirouette finishing in any open extension

    Petite Allegro, including jumps with battu

    Grand Allegro, including tours for men and fouettés for women

AUDITION TOUR 2025

  • Join Ballet 5:8 in collaboration with ten other ballet companies for the National Master Audition at Ballet California. More information and registration: www.balletcalifornia.org/national-master-audition

    You must register for this audition through NMA and cannot register through Ballet 5:8 directly.

  • Join us for an audition and master class taught by Artistic Director Julianna Rubio Slager in the heart of NYC at the School of American Ballet.

    Registration: 9:30-10a
    Audition Class en Pointe: 10-11:30a

    Ages 12+, dancers must be en pointe to audition. $40 registration fee due at the time of registration to reserve a space in the class.

  • Join us for an audition and master class taught by School Principal Miranda Rubio Opsal at Nashville Ballet in the beautiful state of Tennessee.

    Registration: 2:30-3:00p
    Audition Class: 3-4:30p
    Parent Q&A: 4:30-5:00p

    Ages 10+, if dancers are en pointe they will be asked to do pointe work during the audition. $40 registration fee due at the time of registration to reserve a space in the class.

Beginning in the Fall of 2025 we will be entering an exciting housing partnership with Trinity College for the YEAR ROUND program with academic options for our Second Company, Trainee and Conservatory programs.

Live the college experience while dancing at Ballet 5:8.

Pricing and details will be available November 1st with Audition Tour registration.

Dancers attending the Conservatory, Trainee, and Second Company programs will have the option to stay on campus at Trinity Christian College. Dancers will stay in South Hall, which has complimentary WiFi, floor lounges, on-site laundry, and personal bathrooms.
