Kim Sagami

Year-Round Faculty, Trainee Program & Conservatory

A celebrated former dancer with the Joffrey Ballet, Kim Sagami was invited to join the company by Robert Joffrey in 1983 after two years with American Ballet Theater II. Throughout her 18-year career, she performed globally in iconic theaters like New York’s City Center and the Acropolis in Athens. Kim danced in historic revivals and original works by renowned choreographers, including Ashton, Balanchine, Arpino, and Nijinska. She can be seen in the 1987 film of Le Sacre du Printemps and Joffrey’s BILLBOARDS set to Prince’s music.

Her passion for space and movement led her to earn a Bachelor of Architecture with high honors from the Illinois Institute of Technology. Today, Kim brings her unique perspective to teaching, serving on faculty at the Joffrey Academy of Dance and offering masterclasses nationally and internationally. She has taught at Interlochen Summer Arts Camp, Fort Wayne Ballet, and beyond.

Kim is a répétiteur and board member for The Gerald Arpino Foundation, most recently staging Arpino’s works for Joffrey Ballet’s trainee program, Fort Wayne Ballet, and Central Indiana Dance Ensemble.
