Melanie Rodrigues | Dry Bones
A celebration of our hope in God, Dry Bones tells the epic ancient story of the Valley of Dry Bones from the Book of Ezekiel. Hear what the Ballet 5:8 artists have to say about this innovative new ballet by Artistic Director Julianna Rubio Slager.

Q: What has stood out to you the most about the choreography of Dry Bones? How is Dry Bones different from other ballets in the Ballet 5:8 repertoire?
A: Dry Bones has been super fun, yet very different from Golden Sessions! The movement quality for Dry Bones is more angular, weighted and disjointed. There is a part where the whole corps moves together as one spine, which I find fascinating, and I’m sure even more fascinating to watch!
Q: What does the story of the Valley of Dry Bones mean to you? How do you convey this meaning through your dancing?
A: It reminds me that God can and does breathe life into things, people and dreams we believe to be dead. He is in the business of making all things new; making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. (Isaiah 43:19)
Q: Why should audience members see Dry Bones?
A: First of all, live art is super special, and second it gives you an excuse to go out, dress up and have a night out!!
