Makoto Fujimura’s exquisite paintings are the inspiration for Julianna Rubio Slager’s work Gospel Impressions. Rubio Slager takes his work as a base and fleshes out both his inspiration and painting with movement and geometry.
In Golden Sessions, Rubio Slager brings visual illustration to C.S. Lewis’ The Four Loves. English only has one word for love, but Greek has four: Storge, Philia, Eros, and Agape. Rubio Slager explores the various textures of the four Greek words for love, and how each one captures a unique aspect of our relationships.
Presented in partnership with the Wade Center’s Muriel Fuller Endowment, this double-bill performance showcases the exceptional piano accompaniment by Daniel Paul Horn and Kyle Orth, adding a layer of richness to the artistic tapestry.
