Q. When did you start training in dance?
A. 10 years old.
Q. When did you know you wanted to dance full time?
A. I knew at 19. I took some time off of dance and missed it immensely. I knew I had to go back to it and pursue what I was passionate about.
Q. What are the first steps to a career in dance?
A. Love what you are doing. It is easy to burn out in a career this hard when you are only half in.
Q. What was the most challenging part of building a career in dance?
A. Feeling unworthy and replaceable. It’s easy to compare yourself to other dancers and pick yourself apart. Instead you must learn from those around you and have courage in who you are as an individual. You bring something else to the table that no one else can because you are unique.
Q. What do you enjoy most about being a professional dancer?
A. Getting to do what I love as a job. While there are hard days in the studio, the good always seems to out way the bad.
Q. What valuable skills have you seen yourself develop through dance?
A. Discipline, patience, courage, and determination.
