Libby Dennen | 22/23 Season in Review

One of our Ballet 5:8 traditions at the end of each performance season is to ask the artists of the company to share some reflections with us. A special thank you to the artists of the company for sharing about their experiences in the 2022/23 Season.

Q. Pick one word to describe the 2022/23 Season. Why?

A. Varied. This season had some of the most diverse repertoire we’ve had. From the modern of Solace, to the classical of Look to the East, the abstraction of Interplay and on to the fully immersive and narrative work of BareFace.

Q. Can you share a favorite moment from on- or off-stage?

A. Having a Lord of the Rings marathon while on tour.

Q. You performed many works this season! Does one stand out as the most meaningful or most notable for you personally? Why?

A. Interplay. I watched the company premier this back when I was a student, and I've wanted to perform it ever since. It was so special to be cast as a lead and get to live 14 year old me's dream. It will always be a personal favorite.

Q. What are you looking forward to next season?

A. Butterfly! It's a favorite ballet of mine, and it had a pretty short run of shows due to the pandemic. I'm excited to bring it back to the stage!
