Pick one word to describe the overall season. Why?

Enriching. As this was my first season with Ballet 5:8, I learned very quickly that I was not going to be able to stick with the style of dance I was used to before! I grew to become a lot more comfortable with new styles of ballet and improvisation - an enriching experience for which I am very grateful.

Can you share a favorite moment from on or offstage?

One of my favorite moments from this season was performing Mercy outside on the street. Not only was the choreography a blast to perform with the other dancers, but dancing outdoors to bring glory to God under a gorgeous blue sky and warm sun, His very creation, was an experience like none other.

Out of all the works, you performed this season, does one stand out as the most meaningful or most notable for you personally? Why?

Getting to perform the Eros pas de deux was very meaningful to me, as it was a role I understudied in the fall. I absolutely fell in love with the sweeping and breathtaking choreography, and the way Brette and Sam made it so effortless. I never imagined I would have the opportunity to perform it myself in the spring!

Is there a particular quote or idea that has been inspirational to you this season?

Coming from a non-Christian dance company, the idea that every step I dance is for God has been novel for me, but also so comforting.

What are you up to this summer?

This summer I will be teaching and training to start my new position as Co-Director of the Trainee and Conservatory Program in the fall. I'm also looking forward to visiting my family!
