Location

Trinity Christian College | Palos Heights, IL

Dancers attending Summer Intensive and the Choreographer’s Intensive stay at Trinity Christian College, located in Palos Heights, IL. Dancers will stay in Alumni Hall which has secure locks on the building and each suite, and security patrols the campus 24 hours. Amenities include suite style rooms, a dining hall and on-site laundry. Each suite contains two bedrooms, one bathroom, a bed for each dancer, a small living room area, linens and one towel per dancer.

RAs

It is our privilege to do everything we can to make you a “home away from home” while you’re at Summer Intensive! Housing students under the age of 18 are accompanied by dedicated Ballet 5:8 Resident Advisors at all times outside of Summer Intensive class hours. RA’s, often dancers from the Ballet 5:8 professional company and Trainee Program, ensure that students stay safe and abide by Ballet 5:8 Summer Intensive Housing Policies, get proper rest and nutrition, and plan the occasional outing to a local ice cream shop in the evenings, among other duties.

Meals

Breakfast is provided by Trinity seven days per week, and Housing students typically eat at the dining hall each morning and evening. Lunches are individually catered from Healthy Nation Catering and are provided at Ballet 5:8 studios as part of the Housing package Monday-Friday. Students will enjoy all meals at the dining hall over the weekends as well. Dancers are responsible for their own snacks and RAs will coordinate weekly grocery runs.

Pas De Deux Intensive only: Dancers are responsible for their own snacks and Sunday evening meal.

Weekend Activities

Ballet 5:8’s Summer Intensive programs are known for being particularly, well, intense. Dancers often appreciate some downtime on evenings and weekends to rest and take care of laundry However, weekend activities are fun and important too! Since the Intensive is within easy driving distance from downtown Chicago, The Magnificent Mile, Millennium Park, and other fun city attractions are go-to activities for weekends with good weather.

Additional information about specific weekend activities will be announced in the weeks leading up to the Intensive.

Travel

Dancers staying in Ballet 5:8 housing must arrive the Sunday prior to their program start day. Ballet 5:8 provides transportation for Housing students arriving by airplane and other public transportation: dancers should carefully read the instructions in the Housing Packet for additional details and instructions on submitting itineraries to Ballet 5:8. O’Hare International Airport (recommended) and Midway International Airport are both viable options and are roughly equidistant from Ballet 5:8 studios, though Ballet 5:8 prefers that dancers travel through O’Hare. Midway is the smaller of the two airports and provides a relatively more relaxed travel experience, while O’Hare has a larger variety of flight options. Attendees can also get to the area on Amtrak, Greyhound, and MegaBus via Chicago stops, but this is only recommended for dancers ages 18+. Housing students being picked up at the end of the intensive can choose to check out on Friday night or Saturday morning; for those needing Ballet 5:8 transportation back to the airport, check out and out-bound flights must be scheduled for Saturday morning.
