Samuel Opsal and Lorianne Robertson in The Space in Between, 2018

In a grey town where the rain falls continuously, stands a man at a bus stop, on the brink of heaven and hell. This dreamlike place is the setting for Ballet 5:8 Artistic Director Julianna Rubio Slager’s The Space in Between.

Stephanie Joe and artists of the Company in The Space in Between, 2018

Drawing inspiration from The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis, The Space in Between explores the nature of eternity and the joy found on its shores. In Lewis’ work, Hell is not a place where a vengeful God tortures his victims, but a place “where the gates are locked from the inside.”

Premiere: October, 2018
Choreography: Julianna Slager

Costumes: Lorianne Robertson
