What is an online performance?

Ballet 5:8 Online performances are original Ballet 5:8 works performed by Artists of the Company and filmed and edited especially for a fantastic online viewing experience!

How do I watch a performance?

First, decide if you want to watch just one performance or the entire Ballet 5:8 Online Season. Then, make your “ticket” purchase here and watch anytime during the premiere timeframe, from a device with a web browser . If you want to watch multiple performances, check out our Online Season Subscriptions

How do I watch the online performance I purchased?

You can log into your account on our website.

Can I watch the online performances on my TV or other device?

We have a custom Ballet 5:8 video hosting platform through Vimeo OTT. You can watch our performances on any device that has a web browser by visiting online.ballet58.org. Here are instructions from Vimeo on how to access our site on your web browser.

How will I be notified about my pre-order being ready to watch?

We will email you as soon as the ballet is ready to be viewed. 

I purchased an online performance: can I view the ballet indefinitely?

No. When you purchase an online performance you are purchasing the equivalent of a ticket to that online performance. All online performances have limited viewing timeframes. A buy-to-own recording is only available for School of Ballet 5:8’s Beyond the Nutcracker.

Can I share my viewing links and passwords with people who do not purchase a performance or subscription themselves? 

People who do not live in your household should to purchase their own subscription or individual performance. This helps us make our online ballets possible and supports the artistic administrative staff at Ballet 5:8. 

Do I need multiple tickets for multiple viewers at my home?

If you are hosting a watch party with a single Ballet 5:8 Online Subscription or individual performance purchase, we ask that you and/or your guests make a donation to support Ballet 5:8’s work in lieu of their ticket purchase. Ballet 5:8 Online performances are only possible thanks to your support!

Can I give this as a gift?

Yes! On the checkout page you will see an option to send your purchase to someone else as a gift. Click “Gift This” on the check out page. 

Are these performances made from archival (old) footage?

No! All the ballets featured in the 2020/21 Ballet 5:8 Online Season are filmed and curated in Ballet 5:8’s black box theater in our studios in Orland Park, IL during the season. Each online performance is filmed and produced cinematically to give you the best online viewing experience, and a unique experience compared with a traditional live stage performance.. 

I already saw one of the works live - should I also watch online?

Yes! Purchasing an online performance is a great way to experience the ballet again and to share it with friends or family - many audience members intentionally attend performances more than once since they experience different aspects of the ballet each time! Your online viewing experience will be different from in-person because Ballet 5:8 Online Performances are filmed and produced cinematically, as opposed to the full-stage view of the work in a traditional live performance. This perspective brings out unique elements of the ballet and makes for a special audience experience.

What is the refund and transfer policy?

Ballet 5:8 Online subscription packages and individual performances are non-refundable and non-transferable.
